EnglishGerShun Avilez Amiri Baraka (b. 1934–d. 2014) was born Everett LeRoy Jones in Newark, New Jersey. After the assassination of Malcolm X in 1965, he left Greenwich Village and moved to Harlem to take up the work Malcolm had begun.
