Ray's "Cultures" Course Featured in the Advisor

June 30, 2010 English

Professor Sangeeta Ray's "Cultures of the Americas" Scholars course is featured in the Spring 2008 issue of The Advisor.

The article on page two focuses on the interdisciplinary and geopolitical focus on the course.  Ray, Director of the Cultures of the Americas program, named the course after the program because it serves as the gateway course for the two-year living-learning program.

The course emphasizes three broad themes: identity, cultures, and power.  Ray says “Our objective is not only to show how complex societies consolidate common culture but also how the Americas have produced a multiplicity of cultures.”
