Plumly Nominated for PEN/Jacqueline Bograd Weld Award

PEN has named Stanley Plumly's Posthumous Keats (W.W. Norton, 2008) runner-up for the best biography of the year.

Stanley Plumly's "personal biography" of John Keats has already found its way to many "best books of the year" lists, and the accolades continue to accumulate. PEN recently announced that Plumly was one of two runners-up for the one of PEN's most prestigious awards, the Jacqueline Bograd Weld Award for Biography. Besides Plumly, the other finalists were Jeffery Meyers for Samuel Johnson: The Struggle and Richard Brody, who won this year's award, for Everything is Cinema: The Working Life of Jean Luc-Godard. The judges for the Weld Award were Timothy Noah of Slate Magazine, novelist and poet René Steinke, and Judith Thurman of The New Yorker.

Plumly's achievement will be celebrated alongside the work of the other honorees at the 2009 PEN Literary Awards, hosted by Billy Collins, on May 19, 2009 in New York City.
