Michael Olmert, for the Talbot County Historical Society, gave a four-day course to the students of Easton High School's Human Geography AP course. In classroom lectures and in-town walking tours, the course covered the history of Easton's architecture, its social history, and the role of architecture and art in the life of this small market town on the Eastern Shore. Olmert is a board member of the Historical Society.  On September 24, he lectured on the history of 17th and 18th century market houses and market crosses, in Britain and its North American colonies. The lecture was at the St. Michael's, MD., public library. This topic is a chapter of a forthcoming book on the nature of public architecture in the 18th century. He also lectured on "Hamlet" and human evolution, of all things, to several classes of very clever students from nearby High Point High School. And he made some preliminary remarks at the English Department's November 2 screening of the Globe Theatre's 2016 Bollywoodish production of "Midsummer Night's Dream."
