In Memoriam: Morris Freedman

We are sorry to report that Morris Freedman, professor emeritus and former chair of the English department, passed away on April 27, 2015. He was 94.

Professor Freedman taught at the University of Maryland from 1966 until he retired in 1991. He previously taught at the University of New Mexico, after having received an undergraduate degree from City College of New York and a doctorate from Columbia University. He served in the Army Air Forces during World War II.

Professor Freedman was the author of several scholarly books, particularly on modern drama, as well as of articles in newspapers and magazines.
