Martha Nell Smith's article “Frozen Social Relations and Time for a Thaw: Visibilities, Exclusions, and Considerations for Postcolonial Digital Archives” will appear in the Journal of Victorian Culture 19.2 (2014). Continue on to read more!
On April 3, Smith delivered an Invited lecture at the Institute for the Humanities, University of Michigan-- “Time for a Thaw: Visibility, Exclusion, and Futures of Digital Humanities.” She also conducted a seminar in the iSchool.
On March 20, Smith gave the Lindsey Lecture for the Katherine Anne Porter House, English Department, and College of Liberal Arts at Texas State University. Her lecture was “Your, Their, Our, My Emily Dickinson: Her Contemporary Audiences.”
Earlier in March, Smith organized and chaired a panel on "Digital Dickinsons 2014" showcasing 3 of the 6 different scholarly resources on Dickinson. On another panel, "Building Common Space in Print and Internet Essay Collections," Smith delivered a talk on the Dickinson Electronic Archives 2 with Gabrielle Dean, Curator of Rare Books and Manuscripts at Johns Hopkins University.
