Lenaya Stewart Recieves Library Award for Undergraduate Research

Lenaya Stewart, '15, has been selected as a recipient of the 2015 Library Award for Undergraduate Research from the University of Maryland Libraries.

Lenaya StewartLenaya's research project, Purity through Nature: A Comparative Analysis of Metaphoric Structures Linked to Nature in the Poetic Works of John Donne and Langston Hughes, studies “the role of nature and metaphor in literary works”. By comparing and analyzing the works of John Donne and Langston Hughes, Stewart argues that nature images and metaphors “work as tools of social validation for ostracized lifestyles and racial groups.” Read her work hosted on the Digital Repository at the University of Maryland (DRUM)

Lenaya is a senior English major minoring in Creative Writing and Rhetoric. She will receive her award on Wednesday, April 29th as part of Undergraduate Research Day in the STAMP Grand Ballroom.
