Joshua Weiner was the IES Berlin Centre's research associate fellow in October, where he delivered the W.E.B. Du Bois lecture at Humboldt Universität. His Guggenheim Fellowship this year has been devoted to writing about the refugee crisis. His 'Berlin Notebook' about the crisis was posted daily at the Los Angeles Review of Books throughout February. It will be released as an ebook under the LARB imprint this spring. A stand-alone excerpt, about the Berliner Ensemble's production of Brecht's 'Mother Courage and Her Children,' can be found at Tikkun magazine. An essay about Anna Seghers' modern refugee novel, 'Transit,' can be found at B O D Y. His poem, 'Intimacy,' was part of an invitational exhibit in January, 'HEIMWEH'/'HOMESICKNESS,' curated by Anke Becker at the Tête Project Space, Berlin. Josh has new poems forthcoming in 'Ploughshares', and his translation of Ernst Jandl's serial poem, 'the usual rilke,' will be published this spring in 'Poetry' magazine's annual translation issue.
