Faculty Members Receive RASA Grants

Professor Chuck Caramello won a semester Research and Scholarship Award for work on his book “Horsemen, Horse Soldiers, and Grand Illusions.”  This tripartite volume promises to cover a wide historical and geographical range in its investigation of the emergence and evolution of horsemanship as an art and science from the 16th through the 18th centuries in Europe, with particular focus on the horse’s critical role in the Great War of 1914-18.
 
Professor Neil Fraistat won a semester Research and Scholarship Award for work on a new edition of Prometheus Unbound, widely considered to be Shelley’s greatest and most textually challenging poem, which will appear in Volume IV of The Complete Poetry of Percy Bysshe Shelley, for which he is one the two co-founding General Editors. This would be the first complete scholarly edition of the poem to be published since 1920.

Professor Brian Richardson won a semester Research and Scholarship Award for work on his book  "Narrative Beginnings, Middles, Endings, and Beyond: Theorizing Plot after Postmodernism."   By generating an entirely new mode of analysis for heretofore neglected innovative, experimental, and anti-realistic literary works, Professor Richardson’s monograph promises to be the first extended study to use narrative theory to investigate texts that deploy plot in unexpected and radical ways.
