Chanon Adsanatham Awarded the 2015 CCCC James Berlin Memorial Outstanding Dissertation Award

Congratulations to Chanon Adsanatham for winning the 2015 CCCC James Berlin Memorial Outstanding Dissertation Award from the Conference on College Composition and Communication and the members of the Berlin Award committee.
Adsanatham was awarded this honor for his dissertation, “’Civilized' Manners and Bloody Splashing: Recovering Conduct Rhetoric in the Thai Rhetorical Tradition."
According to the 2015 Selection Committee, "The dissertation introduces composition and rhetoric scholars to the concept of Kaya Karma, or conduct rhetoric, at three critical junctures in Thai history. The committee was impressed by the breadth and depth of Dr. Adsanatham's research, which includes fieldwork, interviews conducted in Thailand, and the recovery and translation of historical and poetic texts from Thai archives."
The CCCC James Berlin Memorial Outstanding Dissertation Award Committee honors a graduate whose dissertation improves the educational process in composition studies, or adds to the field's body of knowledge, through research or scholarly inquiry.
Adsanatham will be presented with a plaque at the CCCC Convention in Tampa in March.
