Cameron Mozafari to Deliver Paper at the Rhetoric Society of America Conference, Among Other News

Congratulations to Cameron for passing his qualifying examinations and advancing to PhD candidacy.

This semester, Cameron presented a paper with Marybeth Shea of PWP. The paper, "Communicating Complexity in Transdisciplinary Science Teams for Policy: Applied Stasis Theory," was presented at the Mid-Atlantic chapter of the Ecological Society of America in March. Also in March, Cameron presented a paper, "Imagining a Critical Taste: The Function of Taste and Emotion in 18th and 19th Century Rhetoric and Composition," on a rhetoric panel, organized by recent UMD English doctoral graduate Andy Black at the American Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies Conference. Cameron also participated in the Sound+ Conference, running a workshop with Jarah Moesch, Michelé Prince, and Melissa Rogers, titled "Embodying Sound: Performance of Queer and Raced Expectations." With Professor Michael Israel, Cameron presented a paper titled "The New Prescriptivism: A Usage-based Approach to Writing Pedagogy," at the Georgetown Roundtable on Language and Linguistics. In February, Cameron presented a paper with Marybeth Shea titled, "Designing Interdisciplinary Teams for Transdisciplinary Policy," for the Symposium for Communicating Complex Information. Their paper is scheduled to be published in an upcoming special issue of the ACM SIGDOC Communication Design Quarterly.
