Bob Levine has two new essays: “Reading Slavery and ‘Classic’ American Literature,” in The Cambridge Companion to Slavery in American Literature; “Frederick Douglass, Violence, and Abraham Lincoln,” in  A History of American Civil War Literature (Cambridge UP); and "The Canon and the Survey: An Anthologist's Perspective," in J19: The Journal of Nineteenth-Century Americanists. He recently spoke on canons and anthologies at the C19 conference at Penn State.
