December 2012 Commencement Ceremony

Date and Time

Thursday, December 20, 2012, at noon. No tickets are necessary but all graduates must RSVP by Monday, December 3. The ceremony will last approximately 90 minutes.

Dekelboum Concert Hall, Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center (CSPAC)

Directions and Parking

Parking will be free and available on campus the day of the ceremony. If you require special transportation assistance on campus, please make arrangements by calling the Office of Special Events at 301.405.4638. Graduate Assembly

Graduates must assemble in CSPAC by 11:30AM. Marshals will be present to direct graduates. All graduates must pick up a namecard to be given to the director of their program during the ceremony.

Regalia

Regalia is required for both the departmental and University ceremonies. You are responsible for obtaining your own graduation regalia. You may order your graduation regalia and commemorative accessories in the University Book Center, located in the Stamp Student Union, or by phone. Students who are members of Sigma Tau Delta may also purchase cords from the English Undergraduate Studies Office (1128 Tawes).

If you or your guests will require special assistance (i.e. wheelchair access and seating), please send an e-mail to english@umd.edu specifying your name and the nature of the assistance required.

Participation Eligibility for Undergraduate Students

Students who are within 6 credits (total) of graduating may participate in the departmental commencement ceremony, provided they meet with an advisor in the English Undergraduate Studies Office (1128 Tawes) no later than Monday, December 3.

Participation Eligibility for Graduate Students

Graduate students who will not officially graduate in December may participate in the departmental commencement ceremony with approval of the Graduate Director.
