Eric has a long and varied career in writing and teaching. After getting a journalism degree in 1986 he launched a weekly newspaper covering local politics and the entertainment scene in Fort Collins, Colorado. He then spent six years in Hanoi, Vietnam as a writer, editor and journalism trainer at the daily Vietnam News, the Voice of Vietnam radio, and several other news outlets. He also taught English at the Hanoi University of Foreign Studies and served as public affairs officer at the Australian Embassy in Hanoi. Returning to US, he earned a MA degree in international development from American University and worked with artisan entrepreneurs in Haiti to build websites and market their products through e-commerce. Eric began teaching with the Professional Writing Program in 2014.
