English Graduate Students Garner University Awards

July 13, 2010 English

The English department is pleased to announce that two doctoral students have been awarded 2008-2009 CTE-Lilly Graduate Teaching Fellowships.

Heather Brown and Heidi Scott are among the eight winners for this year. Brown and Scott were selected from a pool of 25 applicants. CTE-Lilly Graduate Fellowships are funded by the Graduate School to support the professional development of graduate students.  The eight fellows meet regularly during the academic year to discuss and address pedagogical and educational issues in undergraduate teaching at the University of Maryland. For their service, Brown and Scott will each receive a $1,000.00 stipend.

The department is also pleased to announce that Timothy Crowley, a doctoral student, has been awarded an ARHU Graduate Student Travel Award.  This Award will help Tim defray expenses related to his participation at the Renaissance Society of America conference in Los Angeles in the spring.

Congratulations to Heather, Heidi, and Tim!
