As President of Emily Dickinson International Society (EDIS), and in collaboration with the ED Museum and Amherst College, Smith also hosted EDIS's Annual Meeting in Amherst, "Emily Dickinson and New England Writers," Aug 8-10. Scholars and readers from all over the United States, as well as conferees from Japan, England, France, and Germany attended.
