Martha Nell Smith will give an invited talk on the Humanities in the Digital Era at the Herrenhausen Symposium.

On September 11th, Martha Nell Smith will give an invited talk on the Humanities in the Digital Era at the Herrenhausen Symposium on "Positioning the Humanities in the 2020s” at Herrenhausen Palace, Hanover, Germany. The Symposium is sponsored by the German U15 and Volkswagen and Homi K. Bhaba is a featured speaker.

In August, Smith participated in a roundtable on ”Crossing Boundaries — Emily Dickinson and the Performing Arts: Remediation, Intermediality” and the next day conducted a workshop on “Biography and Bio-Pic: What Do They Have to do with Reading Dickinson’s Poetry?” at the Emily Dickinson International Society (EDIS)’s International Conference in Asilomar, California.

Also in August, Smith’s comments were featured in a New York Times article, “The Em-dash Divides". 

On Friday, August 30, her remarks were highlighted in the Washington Post’s Book World piece on Apple TV’s “Dickinson”.
