Gerard Holmes, Norrell Edwards, and DeLisa Hawkes planned and presented a daylong Humanities Beyond the Academy symposium February 28.
Along with keynote speaker Gregory Laski of the US Air Force Academy and the Democratic Dialogue Project, faculty and staff of the Georgetown University Reinvent PhD project, and UMD faculty Merle Collins, Janelle Wong, and Jason Nichols. Invaluable professionalization and career advice was provided by Karen Nelson, Linda Macree, and Susan Martin. Kellie Robertson offered opening remarks. The symposium was supported by the Center for Literary and Comparative Studies, the Graduate School, and the Pepsi Fund.
