In the spirit of collaboration, and taking advantage of her familial connection to the Director of Chile's School of Journalism, Robin M. Earnest, J.D., LL.M., has organized a student visit to UMD this fall. Serap Deniz Rada, the Director of UMD's School of Journalism, has graciously agreed to host a group of journalism students visiting from Chile's Universidad del Desarrollo, in late September. The visit is part of a special internship in which students travel to the United States to view journalism schools and news organizations here. As a result of this year's collaboration, all hope a visit to UMD will become a more permanent part of that annual internship program. Keep reading to learn more.

Writing Center tutors Katie Stuller and Dionte Harris are invited to participate in the Naylor Workshop for Undergraduate Research in Writing on September 25-27 at York College in Pennsylvania. In this second year of the workshop, 15 schools will send students to explore research topics with faculty mentors in groups and individually.  Entrepreneur, sportsman, and supporter of high quality education, Irvin Naylor supports this workshop through a generous endowment. Leigh Ryan, UMD Writing Center Director, again serves as a faculty mentor and presenter this year.
