Spring Teaching Orientation

Spring Teaching Orientation

English Tuesday, January 22, 2013 3:00 pm - 4:15 pm Tawes Hall, 3134

English Grad Students & Lecturers,

As the beginning of the spring semester approaches, I'm writing to invite you to the Spring Teaching Orientation hosted by the English department's Center for Teaching Excellence. Orientation will be held on Tuesday, January 22, from 3-4:15 p.m. in Tawes 3134.

The teaching orientation is required for new instructors and TAs of 200- and 300-level English and Comparative Literature courses, though all current and future instructors and teaching assistants are welcome to attend. This orientation will cover English department and University policies and present information on teaching resources and tips. We'll also address General Education curriculum requirements and plus/minus grading, both implemented last semester.

Any instructors looking for more information on the General Education parameters and Learning Outcomes for your course should consult the sample syllabi at http://english.umd.edu/administration/faculty-staff/gen-ed. Please also feel free to email me with questions.

If you plan to attend the orientation, please RSVP to me at adykema@umd.edu by Thursday, January 17.
