Senior English Major Norine McKee Receives a 2014 Critical Language Scholarship (CLS)

Senior English major Norine McKee has received a 2014 Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) from the US Department of State. The CLS program provides intensive, fully-supported summer language study experiences. She is one of 9 award recipients from UMD, which places the University among the top 10 schools in the nation for CLS awards earned in 2014 – only 5 schools had more CLS awards than Maryland.

Norine McKee (award to study Chinese in China) McKee is a senior in the College of Arts and Humanities majoring in English Language and Literature as well as Chinese. She is also minoring in Creative Writing and won first place for prose in the 2013 Jiménez-Porter Literary Prize competition. McKee studied in China during summer 2012.
