Brian Richardson was a Scholar in Residence at the University of Bologna during spring semester. There he gave a series of lectures on “The Fate of Reading in the Twentieth Century,” including “Modernism and the Use and Abuse of Reading,” “Reading (Through) Postmodernism,” and “The Material Book from Virginia Woolf to Hyperfiction.” Continue on to read more!

At the University of Venice in early March, he presented a talk on “Unnatural Narratives: Theory and Practice.” At the end of March, he spoke on the impossible narrative of Robert Coover’s “The Babysitter,” organized and chaired a panel on unnatural narratives in literary history, and co-organized the Narrative Theory Panels at the International Narrative conference at MIT. In April he spoke on “Reading in (and after) Conrad” at the University of Warsaw.
