Ann Bracken had three poems published in the winter edition of the Baltimore literary magazine Scribble: “The Second Chance Cafe,” “Nested,” and “The Portal.”

Pam Orel wrapped up the Fall 2013 semester with three certificates for completion of programs sponsored by the Sloan Consortium, a leading online professional society devoted to advancing e-Education: “Assessment Techniques for Collaborative Teams,” “Massively Open Online Courses - the Basics,” and “Student Satisfaction: Engagement Online.” Pam also completed the Red Cross Adult, Child and Pediatric First Aid/CPR and AED course offered through the University of Maryland’s Campus Recreation Services office.

Scott Wible has won the 2014 Conference on College Composition and Communication “Advancement of Knowledge Award” for his book Shaping Language Policy in the U.S.: The Role of Composition Studies. The CCCC presents this award annually for the empirical research publication in the previous two years that most advances writing studies. Scott will be presented with the award at the 2014 CCCC Convention in Indianapolis.
