Transatlantic Lecture Series: Cornelia Pearsall

December 6, 2019
4:00 - 5:30 PM
2115 Tawes Hall

Join us on Friday, Dec. 6 at 4 p.m. for the Transatlantic Lecture Series. Cornelia Pearsall will give a talk entitled "Tennyson's Imperial Disappearances," detailed below.

The poetry of Tennyson's last decade participated in Victorian Britain's expansive imperial aggressions, fantasizing and fabricating temporal and spatial boundlessness. Tracing a network of global entanglements, this paper considers the ways in which this work — political, poetic — is everywhere undone by situations of displacement and disappearance.

Cornelia Pearsall is a professor of English at Smith College.
