Wireless Access

The Division of Information Technology provides three main wireless networks for users with a university ID and password, including:

  • umd
  • umd-secure

Umd-secure is the recommended network, as it provides the most data security, while umd is the default network.

To log on to umd, open any web browser and navigate to any URL. Your browser will redirect you to the umd wireless authentication login page, where you can enter your directory ID and password

For help connecting to umd-secure, please see the Division of Information Technology's Connecting to the Wireless Network page for instructions.

Guest Users

In order for non-campus affiliated users to access the umd wireless network, a University of Maryland faculty or staff member must request a guest account using the Guest Wireless Access Tool. A temporary directory ID and password will be issued for guests to login. The Guest Wireless Access Tool will allow faculty and staff to sponsor up to four guest accounts, which are valid for up to 30 days.
