How will my online classes work?

Await direct guidance from course instructors for online class instructions. Contact your advisor with any concerns in the meantime. Find additional resources for online classwork.

UMD has created a central email that students, faculty and staff with disabilities can contact, in order to get the help and support that they need. Contact if you have any disability related concerns, or need accessibility services or support, during this period of transition. Additional resources include: 

  • Keep Teaching includes resources for students on how to implement accessibility and accommodations in online courses. 
  • Undergraduate and graduate students should contact the Accessibility and Disability Service (ADS) office if they have any questions on how to implement course accommodations online. ADS staff can be reached at (301) 314-7682 or

The Graduate School Writing Center, the Office of Graduate Diversity and Inclusion, and the Professional and Career Development Office are open and are providing a range of remote appointments and workshops.


Is McKeldin Library open?

Although McKeldin Library will remain open, students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to use services and resources remotely. See the UMD Library Schedule.

AskUs/Chat will be monitored 9am-5pm, Monday-Friday to respond to questions about online reference services. Please see message from the Dean of Libraries, Adriene Lim that includes information on accessing library resources from off-campus remotely.

Are Student Services Available?

Yes, while the university is operating under reduced operations. Find details regarding services from Residence Life, Dining Services, University Health Center, Counseling Center, Accessibility and Disability Service, RecWell, Libraries, Stamp Student Union and UM-Shuttle.

Will I have access to tutoring?

Yes, the Writing Center is still here to support writers and all of the valuable learning that takes place through the writing process. All Writing Center appointments will now be held online.
