RhetSA Institute Graduate Student Development Awards

The RSA Institute is designed for participants to build their scholarly expertise, collaborate and network with scholars in their areas of interest, and develop their scholarly projects. This competitive award is intended specifically for graduate student registrants to the Institute, and its purpose is to support the work that participants initiated at the Institute.

Award amounts will be $300 per application; 10 awards will be granted.

Applicants may propose projects such as article/dissertation development; archival research; qualitative/quantative data collection, collaborative work or writing groups; digital projects; special journal issue proposals; conference panels. Collaborative applications are welcome. Special consideration will be given to projects that engage diversity and inclusion.

Project descriptions of 750-1000 words should:

  • Describe the proposed project and how this project extends and develops the work initiated at the 2019 RSA Institute.
  • Identify the product of this award support (article, dissertation chapter, etc).
  • Articulate the significance of the proposed project within the field of rhetorical studies.
  • Identify applicant(s) scholarly background and investment in proposed project.
  • Offer a timeline for completion (or submission) of the project identified, and the use/distribution of application of funds.
