Comparative Crossings: Billie Jean Isbell, "Anthropology's Return to Fiction"

Billie Jean Isbell [1] is an emerita and graduate professor of Anthropology at Cornell University. She served as director of the Latin American Studies Program at Cornell from 1987-1993 and again in 2001-2002. She also served as director of the Andean program for Cornell’s International Institute for Food, Agriculture and Development from 1990-2003. She is the President Elect of The Society for Humanistic Anthropology of the American Anthropological Association. Her anthropological novel, Finding Cholita, won honorable mention in the Victor Turner Prize competition for excellence in ethnographic writing.
