Graduate Conference Announces Keynote

Deadline for submissions extended to January 15, 2009.

Jonathan Gil Harris (George Washington University) and Zita Nunes (University of Maryland) will deliver keynote addresses for the annual conference slated for February 27th and 28th, 2009.

The Graduate English Organization's second annual conference is titled "(Media)tions: Translating the Body Politic." The conference will bring together a wide range of graduate students to probe how the arts and sciences translate our socio-political consciousness. Graduate students throughout the DC area are encouraged to submit paper and panel proposals by January 15, 2009.

Dr. Harris is Professor of English at George Washington University. His fifth book, Untimely Matter in the Time of Shakespeare, was published by University of Pennsylvania Press this fall.

Dr. Nunes is Associate Professor of English and the Director of the Comparative Literature Program at the University of Maryland. Her new book, Cannibal Democracy:Race and Representation in the Literature of the America, was released by University of Minnesota Press earlier this year.
