Retired Professor Joyce Kornblatt's new novel, Mother Tongue, her first in 20 years, has received a starred review in Publisher's Weekly, calling it, "Perfectly crafted," and "full of grace and substance." Pulitzer-Prize-winning novelist Jane Smiley says Mother Tongue "is not only dramatic and engrossing, it is also insightful and wise. Read it! Read it! You will never forget it!."

The novel is forthcoming in September 2022 from Publerati Press, and follows the story of Australian fiction-writer Nella Pine, who learns that she was kidnapped as an infant from a hospital in the United States, taken to Australia, and raised there by the woman she knew as her mother, but who was actually her abductor.  In four voices of those whose lives were changed forever by the abduction, the mystery of Nella’s kidnapping emerges.

"My name is Nella Pine and this is my life’s story, as new to me as it will be to you who reads it here for the first time. I am the secret and the one who whispers the secret into your ear. I am the crime and the narrator-sleuth."
