In this course students study the situations and genres in which working professionals write about art and artists, as practitioners, advocates, administrators, and educators. Assignments may include analyzing and composing artist statements, an arts manifesto, art education guides, press releases about artists and their work, critical reviews of exhibits and performances, and proposals to funding agencies and foundations.

Note: 
This course satisfies the professional writing requirement. For ENGL majors to receive major credit from this course, they will have to have already fulfilled the professional writing requirement with another course.
Credit will be granted for only one of the following: ENGL398A or ENGL391A. Formerly ENGL391A.
Repeatable to 6 credits if content differs.
Prerequisites: 
ENGL101; or students who have taken courses with comparable content may contact the department. Restriction: Must have earned a minimum of 60 credits; and junior standing or higher. 
Not open to students who have completed ENGL391A.
