Jonathan D. Auerbach Is Distinguished Scholar-Teacher

On November 13th, the English professor will lecture on social reform and propaganda in World War I.

The College of Arts and Humanities is happy to announce that English professor Jonathan D. Auerbach has been named a Distinguished Scholar-Teacher for 2014-2015. Auerbach will be officially commended at the 31st Annual Faculty and Staff Convocation on October 7. The award has been given every year since 1978 to educators who have demonstrated exceptional success both in their research and teaching. Distinguished Scholar-Teachers give a public presentation and receive a $5,000 honorarium toward further academic investigations.

Auerbach has written five books on American literature, film studies and literary theory. His lecture, “Weapons of Democracy: How Social Reformers Became Propagandists for World War I” will take place on Thursday, November 13th from 4-6pm in Ulrich Recital Hall in Tawes Hall.
