Jesse Alemán

University of New Mexico
will discuss his 2006 ALH essay, "The Other Country: Mexico, the United States, and the Gothic of Conquest."

Friday, November 7th at 11:00AM
Susquehanna 2123

Jesse Alemán, who will be giving a keynote talk at this weekends "Rethinking Empire and Imperialism in Nineteenth-Century American Literature," has generously agreed to meet with the Americanist Reading Group to discuss his essay.

We look forward to seeing Americanists working in a wide range of periods, genres and topics participate in this group. A discussion of Alemán's essay will a great way for students who may be less familiar with empire and imperialism in American literature to gear up for the conference.

Alemán's essay is available through Project Muse.
