GEO Professionalization Workshop

February 10, 2014
11:00 - 1:00 PM
Tawes 2115

On February 10th, at 11 a.m., Professors Marilee Lindemann, Joshua Weiner, Matthew Kirschenbaum and PhD Candidate Amanda Visconti will each speak to the ways various internet platforms have enhanced, facilitated, and provided new opportunities for their intellectual and academic lives. How can Twitter operate as a useful professional networking tool, as well as a way to foster intellectual community? What does starting an academic blog entail, and what are the potential benefits? How can a poet or fiction writer use internet visibility to one's best advantage? What does online professionalism mean, especially for graduate students? These are just some of the questions that will be addressed, and there will be plenty of time for Q&A. Don't miss the opportunity to hear from wonderful, savvy academics on this very important topic! Room information TBA. Feel free to email Rachel Vorona at rvorona@umd.edu with any questions you may have.
