Digital Studies Colloquium

February 15, 2019
3:00 - 5:00 PM
3136 Tawes Hall

This Digital Studies Colloquium will read two pieces:

Jessica Marie Johnson's recent "Markup Bodies: Black [Life] Studies and Slavery [Death] Studies at the Digital Crossroads" Social Text 137 (Dec 2018).

Simone Browne's Dark Matters, Chapter 1 "Notes on Surveillance Studies: Through the Door of No Return."

Please contact Matt Kirschenbaum for the readings.

In addition, the group will also look at the Stedman engravings which Johnson discusses, as they are reproduced in the William Blake Archive [trigger warning: graphic imagery of enslavement, torture, execution].

The Colloquium is open to all.
