ENGL649B - Readings in Rhetoric, Composition, and Literacy; Research Methods in Rhetoric, Composition, and Literacy

English 649B will introduce you to key research methods in rhetoric, composition, and literacy studies. You will learn the principles of research design and responsible research practices. You will read about and practice approaches to rhetorical criticism, archival research, and empirical and qualitative research (for example, interviews, surveys, observations etc.). In addition to small projects asking you to put these research methods into practice, you will produce a research proposal for a study of your choosing. By the end of the semester, you will be able to design and carry out a research project of your own.
