ENGL444 - Feminist Critical Theory

The "personal is political" is a popular maxim that has directed and inflected feminist theory, practice, and politics. Our focus for the semester will be to explore and elaborate on this maxim by investigating how considerations of experience, embodiment, memory, and even history invigorate feminist theory building. To take up this work, we will engage work by scholars such as Ann Cvetkovich, Jack Halberstam, bell hooks, Gloria Anzaldua, and Audre Lorde.
