ENGL329A - Cinema of Liberation
Syllabus:
Section(s):
0101, 0201 - Eugene Robinson

The cinema experience creates the perfect environment for liberation--there is little to no distraction, the experience is total, isolating and illusory. This course introduces a new kind of cinema that attempts to liberate the spectator from the spectacle. The rationality of daily life is put on hold and the move is toward a more liberated cinema. At its core is freedom and the examination of forces that impact subordinated and marginalized individuals.

Also offered as CMLT398C. Repeatable to 9 credits if content differs.

Prerequisites:

ENGL245, FILM245, FILM283, or SLLC283; or permission of ARHU-English department.
