- Postmodern Literature

This course traces the development of postmodernism in literature and culture. It focuses on authors whose work transcends national borders. In addition to literature, the course examines visual culture. It will appeal to students with interests in transnationalism and globalization, gender and sexuality, cinema and media studies, U.S. Ethnic and global literature. Requirements: 1 short (5-7pp) and 1 longer (9-10pp) research papers; 2 exams; class presentations and collaborations. Strong emphasis on writing, revision, and research. Students not present from the first day forward will have difficulty catching up.
