Description

On this course we will study themes and trends in Caribbean women’s writing. Among writers and critics to be studied are Edwidge Danticat, Simone Schwarz Bart and Maryse Conde. 

We will also read a collection of writing by Caribbean Women Writers at Home and Abroad, edited by Jennifer Nunez. Among themes to be explored as we put these works into theoretical perspective are gender and feminism in the Caribbean, globalization and migration

Prerequisites

Two English courses in literature or permission of the department.
