Spring 2012

Description

We will begin with Hamlet and then move on to Measure for Measure, Macbeth, King Lear, Antony and Cleopatra, Coriolanus, and The Tempest. We will mix in some of the Sonnets as we proceed. Classes will consist of some lectures but mostly discussion. Careful close reading will be emphasized and attention will be paid to questions of genre and historical context. Regular reading quizzes, two papers, and a final examination.
