Comparative study of literature through selected literary works from several non-Western cultures, viewed cross-culturally in light of particular social, political, and economic perspectives. This course will take a more specific look at the role of writers and dictators. We will explore film and texts from South African, Dominican, Nicaraguan, Chinese, Iranian, Haitian, and Argentinian artists. Course assignments include group presentations, comparative essays, quizzes, and a comprehensive exam.
