ENGL300 - Writing about Literature
Syllabus:
Section(s):

In this course, students will refine their academic writing skills through a particular emphasis on literary analysis. While this course specifically focuses on developing these skills through an analysis of various literary texts, including plays, poetry, short stories, and a novel, the skills gained will be applicable in other classes and disciplines as well. As we work through these texts, students will craft essays that focus on literary analysis, style, clarity and engagement with other points of view. Using professional examples of critical essays as a point of departure, students will work through the writing process to create and perfect their own argumentative essays, culminating in a final research paper.

Prerequisites:

Two lower-level English courses, at least one in literature; or permission of department.
