ENGL281 - Standard English Grammar, Usage, and Diction
Syllabus:
Section(s):

This course provides a structural introduction to the grammar of English. It will give students the tools for understanding sentence variety and the elements that make up sentences, usage and punctuation problems, and language variation. While our focus is on current standard English, we will also note areas in which varieties of the language may differ from each other and observe how grammatical choices create certain rhetorical effects. There will be two tests and a final exam, homework exercises, and some formal writing. Some of the work of the course will be done online.
