ENGL379B - Contemporary Asian American Literature of the 21st Century
101 - Davis, Lawrence

This course will investigate cutting edge Asian American literature, focusing on post-millennial works of fiction. With the shifting social and political landscapes of Asian America and America more generally in mind, we will examine how established Asian American writers have shifted their literary interests—or, as crucially, maintained them. We will also examine the new, emerging “generation” of authors. Some guiding questions: what issues, forms, and venues are the Asian American writers of today exploring? In what ways is the emergence of new technologies (re)shaping Asian American literary production?

Repeatable to 9 credits if content differs.

Two lower-level English courses, at least one in literature; or permission of department.
