ENGL494 - Editing and Document Design

This course teaches students the basics of technical/professional editing. The course begins with practice in the correct use of editing/proofreading symbols and the Track Changes/Comment features in Word. Students then learn about style guides and the principles of comprehensive editing and effective document design. Students will complete a series of editing and design exercises, three major projects, and a final exam. A solid foundation in English grammar and mechanics is a prerequisite for success in this course.

Prerequisites: 

ENGL391, ENGL393 or equivalent.  Two English courses or permission of department.
