ENGL398L - Scholarly Writing in the Humanities

This course is aimed primarily at students considering graduate work in the humanities. The course treats academic scholarship as a genre of professional writing and comprises a series of assignments that investigate the norms and procedures of advanced academic writing. Assignments may include a graduate school application essay, a genre review, an annotated bibliography, a journal article, and an oral presentation of article subject matter.This course satisfies the professional writing requirement. For ENGL majors to receive major credit from this course, they will have to have already fulfilled the professional writing requirement with another course.
60 credits and completion of ENGL101 or equivalent.
