Section(s):

This course teaches students the basics of editing non-fiction workplace documents. Students learn to use editing/proofreading symbols and the Track Changes/Comment features in Word, doing close edits of short documents. In addition to various in-class activities and a final exam, students produce three major projects: a short style guide, a document design project (collaborative), and a comprehensive edit of a longer document that incorporates both the editing and document design skills practiced throughout the semester. A solid foundation in English grammar and mechanics is a prerequisite for success in this course.

Prerequisites:
