Other Service Activities

Faculty eligible to receive a course-equivalent for service will primarily support mentoring and peer review in the department. Full-time Senior Lecturers and full-time Principal Lecturers may propose a course-equivalence for service-related activities, including: departmental, college and/or campus service (e.g.service on a departmental committee, Collegiate Council, or Faculty Senate); professional development, construed broadly to include activities that advance the instructional mission of the department (e.g. through a collaborative project with another unit or college, work with the Center for Teaching and Learning or Office of Diversity and Inclusion, and/or work on a public outreach/engagement project); or other programmatic and pedagogical initiatives that fit the campus-level expectations for promotion to the next rank of Principal Lecturer.

Faculty must propose a use of their course equivalance that has deliverables directly related to supporting the academic mission of the program(s) for which they work. Examples of  deliverables include a handbook, a revised and shared curriculum, or a research project directly related to the academic program. These deliverables and related timelines must be stated in your proposal.

According to the information you've provided, you are not eligible for a course equivalence during spring 2019.

Your propsal for a course equivalance will be reviewed by your direct supervisor and the associate chair. The associate chair will provide either feedback on your plans, or written confirmation that your proposal was accepted, by April 1, 2019.
