About to graduate and looking for work?

English graduates can find work in a variety of fields. Below we have listed a small sampling of career opportunities available.

Looking for career advising support? The University Career Center @ ARHU and the University Career Center are still here (virtually) to help you explore possible career paths, search for internships/jobs, apply to graduate school, revise your resume/cover letter and much more! During this time of remote work, here is how to schedule an appointment:

  • Register for an appointment using Careers4Terps. More information can be found on the Request a Career appointment page.
  • Depending on your career questions, you will be routed to an advisor in either the UCC @ ARHU or the main UCC.
  • The career advisor will then follow up with you about which virtual platform will be used (Google Hangout, Zoom, phone, etc.)

You may also want to check out some of the resources compiled on this website, which includes recommended video tutorials on career-related topics in LinkedIn Learning (free for UMD students).

This is an edited page of career postings maintained by the English Undergraduate Office. Opportunities listed do not constitute an endorsement of the employer by the University of Maryland English Undergraduate Office; screening has not taken place. Individuals responding to vacancy postings are advised to make their own inquiries about potential employers.
